Shooting Tip: Find your Pistol Sights FASTER

About :

It's not about simply getting your gun out of the holster quickly, or even about a quick presentation of the firearm. It is about efficient movement and finding your proper sight alignment and sight picture quickly and consistently. To accomplish this, in is important to avoid certain errors such as dipping the muzzle, a bowling or fishing type presentation, or 'throwing' the gun out too aggressively. If you want to take training to a whole new level, sign up for classes with John Lovell here - http://warriorpoetsociety.us/training

Some of the students during this class had been long-time YouTube viewers who had learned a lot about shooting via the internet, but remarked during the class how "much they learned and were able to correct during a class that they would not have been able to learn over the internet." Train hard. Train smart.

I would like to see how you draw from the low ready position. When shooting in the bowling pin league, one must start in the low ready position and I cannot get comfortable sweeping up from there. I have been experimenting, but sucking it in and then pressing out, seems to make one lose their dot and need to regain it. I do not carry it low ready in IDPA and pressing out works fine there.

God damn. Slowing down to about 75% helps immensely and I save the time I lose because the gun isnt bouncing after extension. This is the most helpful thing I've learned all week Thanks John.

That opening sequence man damn. I dont know if I have any trainers in the area like that I think it's all just basic

Edit* I should probably mention theres no way in hell I can afford to or get the time to go to your training, and it's already a pain in the ass to find and lock down a training session just for basic pistol handling

John I love all your videos especially the ones with Mrs Poet. I was just wondering is there someplace I could learn how to modify my presentation because I have a chronic pain condition that doesn’t allow me to hold my arms straight out in front of me. Any suggestions on places that offer alternate gun presentations?

In the vast majority of defensive situations you won’t find your sights. You will point shoot. Learn how.

You are presenting your pistol with x degree muzzle up. Thats great for irons where you focus on front sight then bring the rear sights into line so to speak. Great.
With the dot, try presenting your pistol with x degree muzzle down. The dot will appear in your peripheral vision much earlier in the draw. Start pulling the trigger as soon as you seen the dot. You'll be noticeably quicker. Shoot Early.....party on.
Love your channel, #teamshieldsights #shieldpsd
ps if you lose the dot, look 'across' the slide. It hasn't moved.

I'm so glad I got a Savage Patrol! I changed the forearm, sling, added a new stock & a nice small optic ontop... I got a few thousand rounds of ammo, too! The site www.targetsportsusa.com is my favorite because they offer free shipping! Um, 1000 rounds of 9mm is still $30, and when you want 1,000 rounds of 5.56x45mm then it'll be about $50...

I've got 3,000 rounds of 9mm, 2,000 rounds of .357 Sig, and 5,000 rounds of 5.56x45, 200 rounds of .300 Win Mag, and the rest is miscellaneous, but lets add that up...

So, I have already saved how many hundred dollars! This is for everyone who has to pay normal prices for ammo :-)

I understand that the "focusing on your front sight" is a pretty debatable topic, but I personally found that if you FOCUS on the sight, but keep it lined up between the two rear sights; your shot group will be tighter than a Prom Queen...
