Thomas I have been a big fan of yours for long time; and I'm a mature lady from the UK so thank you so much for now recognising that we are never too old to learn.

I don't agree that it is enough to just walk away if you are stuck on a specific skill. best thing to do is find someone (perhaps a friend) who already has mastered it who you can practice it with and can help you.

I don't really have a work environment at home. Like, I don't have people who I can see working/ studying and get motivated. But these videos made by you Thomas, are so damn motivating. They get me to work every single time I'm procrastinating.

Dr Barbara Oakley and Dr Terry Sejnowski teach a free online course at Coursera called 'Learning How to Learn'.. basic, easy to follow and at the same time very helpful if you find you cant seem to learn new things adequately

@Thomas Frank Do you have links to the research about neurotransmitters that you mentioned at 2:30? I'd never heard before that they tell your brain how important the information it's transmitting is and I want to learn more!

Barbara Oakley has a free class on Coursera about learning how to learn. It covers a lot more of this video's material more in-depth and has interviews with people who have used similar techniques to accomplish a lot. I learned a ton of useful methods and techniques for learning. Would highly recommend looking into taking it!

Really interesting video @Thomas Frank

The notion that being interested in what you are trying to learn seems to be way more important than a lot of people realize. I would argue that this is one of the main reasons why people switch out of Engineering as a major.

A lot of people believe it's because it's difficult but when it gets to such a granular level that the big picture of rockets, solar cells, and robots is lost, can you blame them for losing interest?

I'm definitely subscribing to this channel! These other videos are the bomb.

How can you encourage people to learn skateboarding without wearing pads, or even a helmet?  That's very irresponsible.  Step #1 at 4:20 should have been "put on a helmet!"
