Put it on clean finger then apply to lower eye lid. Every Dr / pharmacist tells you not to touch bottle to eye. It contaminates tip.

Possibly use a q-tip? To not let the tube touch and just lightly put the q-tip where the tube ends?? If that makes any sense

These tubes should have a little lever to cut the strand

Touching that tube to the inside of the eye where the bacteria is would contaminate it! You should wear gloves, put the ointment on your finger and THEN put it in your eye...

When I read I shouldn't let the tip touch my eye, I got my boyfriend to put the ointment on the tip of his dick and then rubbed it on my eye.

Helped a lot, thanks!

Since you touched the tip of the tube to your lower lid, the ointment tube is now contaminated. I don't know how to get a bead of ointment to release from the tube, but everything I've read says NOT to do it like this. Too bad they don't give you that last little bit of crucial advice, because I've been pretty frustrated. I wash my hands thoroughly, dry them on a paper towel, then move the ointment to my eye on the tip of my fingernail without touching the tube at all. I'm pretty sure my Opthalmologist wouldn't like that method either, but at least I'm not touching the tip of the tube. FYI, I read that opened eye ointments should only be kept for a month, but if you don't touch the tip, maybe you can extend that time until the tube is empty -- these prescriptions are too costly to just pitch when they're half full! Yeah, my opthalmologist wouldn't like that either, but until she starts paying for the Rx, I'll follow my own instructions!

I have to apply this type of ointment to my dad every night  (of course not the same brand) so I needed to know a better way than what I was doing it, so yes this is nicer, the only trouble is like @BigMeech Ghandi says not to touch the eye while placing the ointment even if its used on the same person but the bacteria is there to be spread wherever, anyway thanks for the vid, still going to look for a few more : )

I hear people saying its impossible to use the tube and not let it touch the eye whilst administering
Which is of course is spreading bacteria so don't even try
Instead get a cotton bud and allow for the ointment to ball up on the tip of the bud
Then lift upper or lower eyelind depending on area of infection
Then use the bud to insert into the lid

It's easy to say one shouldn't touch the eye with the tip of the tube, but in reality that is simply impossible! If you don't do so, there's no way of getting the ointment into the eye, as once you pull back the tube, the ointment will just come with it! It always sticks to the tube!

You're supposed to get blurred vision at first--you are putting a film on your eyeball so of course it will blur your vision. After several blinks it will clear. Be happy that this germ killer is coating your eyeball--that is what will clear the infection.
Blinking is correct. It's helps to spread the medication through you eye unit. That's how it will be effective.

Eye ointment is terrible!!! I'm so pissed right now because I have pink eye and they prescribed me this crapl The Dr. said it would lubricate more than drops. Um, no this shit dries my eyes out completely and makes a big sticky mess. I can't see and it doesn't stay in the eyes. And I can't afford to go back to the doctor again just to get eye drops.
