About :

Millions of people with Type 2 Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes, PCOS and Fertility issues take Metformin/Glucophage and don't know that it can cause a serious Vitamin deficiency. It's not that Metformin is not safe, you just have to add a daily dose of this vitamin to prevent potentially disastrous consequences.

Many prescriptions medications can cause one problem while fixing another, and metformin is no exception. In this video I will tell you exactly what you need to do to prevent complications (potentially permanent) if you have to take this otherwise useful medication.

Some supplements are a waste of money. Others, however, are vital for good health and long life. This Vitamin, and buying the appropriate kind, is vital to those 2 goals.

Was on metformin (and glipizide) for 5 years. Thanks to your inspiration, Dr. B, my A1C was low enough at my last physical for me to ask/tell my doctor I wanted off both. She agreed. However, I can't tell you how upset I am that she NEVER mentioned B12 to me all these years when two of my main complaints in recent years has been peripheral neuropathy AND aphasia/memory problems. I'm on B12 now, and can only take heart that neither should get any worse. My next bottle of B12 with be methylated. But am I closing the barn door after the horse got out?

Dr. Ken Berry I have been researching Berberine and it sounds like a much safer product than Metformin. Natural remedy. What do you think? I would really be interested in seeing a video on Berberine. Thanks

Hi Ken,

Eryn here. Do some doctors call the peripheral neuropathy "restless legs syndrome"? My grandma for years has had restless leg syndrome and doesn't have the best diet. She was put on oxycoone for many years (which I feel was a huge mistake) she now has dementia and has to be at a facility because she continues to take too many of the oxycodone or will beg who ever lives with her to give her more. I am beginning to wonder why she was prescribed them and if her nutrition was the cause and not something genetic. Her son (my step father) also had "restless legs" but, through better diet (he was a soda pop meat and potatoes guy andhis kidneys suffered many a stone) he no longer has the symptoms of restless legs.

My son and I have the MTFHR gene mutation which hinders absorption. We use a high grade B complex vitamin that has Folate (as L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate) @ 665mcg DFE - I was looking at the B vitamin you suggested and I see it is similar with 400mcg of this ingredient. Dr. Berry, What are your thoughts? This was necessary so that we can fully absorb nutrients from supplements and food -

I have heard that you need to take a B Complex because the Bs work together.

I have tried metformin twice since being diagnosed with diabetes 5 years ago. Both times the drug has caused me to gain weight and works less the longer I take it. Neither Dr. I was seeing could explain to me why I was gaining weight on it.

I was on metformin for a year and never took b12. My question is, would it still be okay to take this regardless? I don't know if I am deficient in b12, but reading the benefits makes me feel I should be taking it!

While I think it is great that you recommend b-12, do you know of one that is methylated that comes in a soft gel or capsule form? I don’t trust that my body is actually getting the full benefits of a supplement out of a tablet. Any thoughts?

Metformin is NOT a safe medication!!! It has a black box warning. Please do not tell people it it a safe medication. I value your advice very much but, I think you misspoke saying that Metformin is safe.

My belief in healthcare has drastically decreased!! Seeing soooooooooo many people in my community perish from the lack of knowledge hurts!! These doctors say diet and exercise but don't go into depth or offer enough teaching on diet and exercise! Then give a diagnosis that we accept by taking prescribed medications often pushed by drug reps then experimented on by patients who are too sick or fed up with symptoms that they do nothing to try and be less dependent on the medications! Then a year later there's a law firm commercial saying if you've ever taken.....(insert drug name) call our firm!! Smh --- speaking from my experience Thank you for going into details about the effects of these drugs on our body! Like someone said, if they worked then you wouldn't need them anymore!!! The symptom is often treated but hardly ever the cause is mentioned!!

Can you please confirm if I can still carry on taking while I am on ketogenic diet? Thank you
