Here are the 8 tips...

Think about what employers care about. Who makes an impact in their organization? People who these things…

1. Generate revenue. Employers love people who generate revenue. Do you generate revenue, profits, and acquire new customers? (Check the video for more commentary on this. I won’t say this again for everyone because I hate repeating myself. You get it.)

2. Improve market and brand awareness. Hey marketing-type folks! Are you creating a better-known brand? Measure it any way you can. Is your company getting more inquiries or email addresses? Is your website traffic increasing due to content marketing? Google Analytics anyone?

3. Customer attraction and leads. Inside sellers or anyone on the front end of sales can be opening doors. You might not be closing the deal for your company, but you’re filling your sales pipeline. Any lead generation works. Managing a booth at an industry fair? Are you collecting business cards or starting a customer or partnership relationship?

4. Customer happiness. Service people can rejoice! Maybe you’re a call center operator and helping people who call in because your product or service is broken. You fix it. Voila! What are your customer satisfaction scores? What is your customer retention rate? What about renewals and renewal rate?

5. Corporate growth and security. Let’s not forget the executives. Have you done anything related to supporting an Initial Public Offering, acquisition, divestiture, etc. Is your corporate and online security safer?

6. Employee happiness. Human resources, recruiters, and all who manage employees can focus on happiness. What are those employee satisfaction scores? Is your attrition bad or is your tenure really, really great? Are your recruitment numbers good? Are they healthy?

7. Cost reduction. Yeah baby!! Let’s save some money! Did you do anything to save your company money? It could be optimizing a system that makes you run more efficiently. It could be reducing expenses.

8. Process efficiency. Optimize anything lately? Maybe you’re an accountant who figured out a way to reduce your company’s month-end closing cycle from fifteen days to seven days. That saves money. It probably reduces mistakes too. All of that stuff is gold on a resume.

Hey Andy, Thank you first and foremost for all you do for the community. I am a data analyst mixed with an auditor, I have 3 years of data analysis experience and four years of financial services experience but have just started auditing so nothing quantifiable in that aspect yet. I work in the healthcare sector. I am trying to get into the IT department for my company but don't have the IT experience and am working on an IT degree. I have an A+ cert with some Microsoft Specialist certs as well. I'm trying to bring my resume to life using your strategies and tactics as well as the template but could use some help on what I can quantify for a help desk position without having help desk experience. Sorry for the wall of text and thank you for your time!

I’m an assistant manager at a clothing company and my store manager is about to get promoted . So I’m ready to take the next step and go for the store manager position. Since I’m a internal candidate and our store is unique and only one of a kind concept been there since we opened the store . I’m just a little nervous as I think most people are during these interviews. Specially our new district manager just got hired herself . So thank you for these videos . It’s teaching me to think about how I impacted the company growth and how I impacted Cost reduction . If any other tips let me know . Love your videos . Here’s a true story I watched your first video when I went for this job interview for assistant manager and I got it . Now a year later watching again and going for store manager . Just want to say thanks again .

Hi Andy,

First, love your videos. I am the like the "google Youtube queen" when it comes to gathering information and I must say I have not come across ANY forums or videos that are in depth as yours. So for this, im very appreciative.

Although, it too late to recieve a prize( yet from you lessons you state Never to assume haha), I hope its not to late to recieve a response.

I work it IT; mostly call centers, helpdesk, desktop support. Basically, more in line with customer service. Its been six years in the feild and im worrying how i can boost my resume to reflect traits and value to become a manager or get involved in cyber security without mention day to day tech jargons that most it resumes fall under....

Any tips?

Hi Andrew, I work on a team of five people so the work is divided evenly 20% each. As an individual contributor my numbers do not sound high or strong compared to competitors. Would I add something like "Contributing team member to resolving/answering/investigating/researching XX number of cases per week?"

Ok Andrew...here is what I am. I hope you're up for a challenge.
I'm a 41yo non professional. I've held many different types of jobs of short term employment (most less than a year) over the last 20 years with large gaps in verifiable employment experience. My aggregate skills are mostly in physical labor like concrete and construction with small family business companies (my family and others). My goal is to get a state job with Cal-trans (California road maintenance department)
Stumped?

PS. How can I add relevant courses from "the great courses" to my resume? (They don't have certifications but the instructors are very highly credentialed)

Hi Andrew! I don't know if I will win your contest! I'm an elementary teacher with 18 years of teaching experience. I have taught first and second grade. I am now looking in to going back to the corporate training world. I was in it for roughly three years before becoming an educator. How can I quantify? I do not teach a testing grade - so I can't speak to those numbers at all. I know I am having difficulty conveying my strengths as I try to leave education and go back to the corporate world.

Hi Andy,
I'm a Sales support coordinator. I don't call on the customer, nor do I make the sales. - So I don't fall under 1. Revenue growth, 2. brand awareness, 3. customer attraction, 4. customer happiness, 5. company growth 6. employee satisfaction, or 7. Cost Reduction
Maybe Processes efficiency.. but that might be a stretch.

Hi Andrew, I am a 53 year old middle school teacher who is looking for a corporate or health care training position. I am a certified Laughter Yoga teacher (I teach people to be happy on purpose while improving their health and building relationships) I am also a HeartMath trainer. HeartMath empowers business/corporations with a resilience-based program with over twenty years of published peer reviewed research. These on the spot tools and technology, equip employees to thrive in the midst of chaotic situations. It enables one to harness the power of the heart to boost energy, mental clarity, and peek personal performance.
I can see how I can apply the 8 needs of a company to my resume. Here is my two issues, what job titles should I apply for? It seems like many jobs in healthcare want even the marketer or educator in the organization to be a nurse. What corporate titles should I apply for?
