That’s called lack of networking during school.

Honestly yeah, it sucks but unless you find the right people at school to make buddies with it’s had getting a job from a focused degree

That’s not the only networking there is. If you don’t have a job before you graduate you didn’t network. You have 3 summers of internships..

Engineering student fron Germany here: Internships mean nothing. Most of the time you arent even allowed to do anything.

Then I have no input, I’m no longer familiar with German universities. How’s the free education working out?

I’m guessing you wanted to be an assistant at Wayne Industries while you do your post Grad.

University in Germany isn't free, but it is so affordable it makes our American University look like actual robbery.

Things work differently different places, homie. Also you can't possibly mean that the reason so many newly graduated people in the US >

... struggle to find jobs is simply because of bad networking and not taking internships? I know many talented and hard-working people >

... who simply can't get a job in their field in the US - despite internships.

Yeah, with the backdrop of the economic policy, it seems there's a lack of qualified innovation, you have ultra high-tech or manufacturing.

Moe’s exceeds chipotle because of its queso. If you’re not ordering the queso then you have no business being there

I got a Creative Writing degree, and now I draw furry art. Can't say I didn't set myself up for that one.

Two masters degrees. Doing PhD now. Can confirm: had 3 jobs, simultaneously. No full time possible. No benefits. WTAF.

Still a system designed for exploitation. We need a living wage. Moved to Asia, make 3x more while finishing PhD but can't go home w/ no job

Yep. I'm underemployed finishing mine in the UK, but at least the NHS and good public transit exist.

I never heard of internships until long after I graduated and got offered 5 jobs straight off the bat based on nothing but my 2:1. I >

Nope, not at all. Did MA#1 in Taiwan. Did MS: Psych in MT, USA. The job I trained for didn't pay a living wage.

wouldn't have had a chance if I was expected to "network" and work for almost free while trying to study.

Not to mention the fact that I've lived in 7 countries and have had a living wage in every one except my home, the USA. It's not networking.

Most Americans don't realize they pay more out of pocket after local/state/fed tax + health insurance than Europeans. I paid 54% in the US/1

What type of engineering degree? There can be a lot of variation in opportunities from one type to the next.

Protip: Look into what kind of work you can get in your area of choice BEFORE you obtain a degree in something. Plan ahead a little.

I worked in retail and all I got was inquiries from companies wanting me to sell insurance. I'd rather be unemployed.

I now pay less than 10% in tax, local and federal. I pay less than 20USD a month for NHI out of my pay. In total it's about 10% of wages /2
